Aims & Objectives of the AOIC

The AOIC aims to provide a network of practising Celebrants who are trained and/or experienced in conducting Ceremonies.

The AOIC will at all times, promote the individuality of the Celebrant and their work, recognising it as such.

The AOIC will provide support and give guidance to its members by way of meetings, regular newsletters, in-house training/refreshers and     anything else agreed between its members.

The AOIC aims to be trusted by the Funeral Profession and other contracting organisations, who should be able to use our members with the utmost confidence.

The AOIC aims to enhance public awareness that they are free to have whatever content they wish during their Ceremony.   For example, they may have a totally non-religious Ceremony or include religious references/practice and also take part themselves if they so wish.

The AOIC will not govern its members with harsh demands - we are a group that supports and respects each other for what we already do.

Code of Practice

Celebrants will always conduct Ceremonies with professionalism and to the highest of standards.   Failure to do so, may cause their membership to be discontinued.

Celebrants must, at all times, conduct Ceremonies to their clients' wishes and encourage their taking part if they so wish.

Celebrants should not judge or give personal opinions on their own or clients beliefs/spiritual needs.

Each Ceremony conducted must be made to feel personal to the client and not of a 'production line' nature.

Celebrants should always behave in a manner that allows both the public and industries to feel secure in the profession and be able to rely on the high standard of Ceremonies conducted.

Celebrants should not cause the AOIC to be bought into disrepute.   Any concerns should be voiced to the Founder.

Celebrants should be willing to offer advice to the public or the relevant industries if needed.

The AOIC's 'Aims and Objectives' and 'Code of Practice' will be regularly reviewed and updated by its members whenever necessary.
